Nightstop South Yorkshire
Provides free emergency accommodation for young people who are in immediate housing crisis, at risk of homelessness, or are sleeping rough across the UK.
Nightstop works with homeless and vulnerable people aged 16-25. They provide a safe bedroom in the homes of trained and vetted volunteer hosts on a night-by-night basis. Volunteer hosts provide a welcome, a hot meal, breakfast, access to clean clothes and toiletries, a bedroom, and a ‘listening ear’ to young people.
In South Yorkshire, the Nightstop service is run by Depaul UK. Referrals are made by calling 0114 278 7152 between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. A young person can be referred by professional services or they can refer themselves.

We have a skilled staff team that offer basic Welfare Services as well as Skills for Living to promote wellbeing and independence. Every aspect of the Centre aims to improve clients’ wellbeing and to encourage independence.
The Centre runs over 35 specialist sessions and activities each week. Some of these sessions are tailored to meet the individual’s needs whilst most are group activities. Each session is run by a trained specialist, supported by a team of dedicated volunteers.
We provide a two course hot meal daily, served in our dining room and prepared by our in-house cook. In addition, we run a café, where drinks and sandwiches are available throughout the day for a nominal charge. This is not open to the public.
All of our activities are based at our Centre or on our allotment and we also run regular trips and outings for clients in our minibus.

A great collection of sites and links to help with homelessness
Help us Help is a collaboration of local charities, Changing Sheff, SHU, University of Sheffield, BID, Safer Communities Partnership and other services.
They share information about the support available to people rough sleeping and begging in Sheffield, along with providing advice and guidance for businesses and the general public about how to best support people on the streets. People find themselves rough sleeping or begging for many different reasons, including bad luck. Their needs are varied and complex.
You can view and download an up-to-date list of service opening times and provision. though be aware that these links are dependent on services sending in updates and may occasionally be out of date, particularly when services are changing quite fast in the current circumstances.
In October 2020, Sheffield City Council and partners carried out a survey with rough sleepers to find out how we can improve services for them. Hearing their voices means that we can see how rough sleeping can affect all areas of a person’s life. Read the short report listed on the website for more information.
Roundabout
Help for homeless aged 16-25
Roundabout is South Yorkshire’s local youth housing charity providing shelter, support and life skills to young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
They aim to empower young people to break the cycle of homelessness by helping them develop long term independent living skills and supporting them with their health, education, employment and training needs. They want to support them in their time of need, as every young person deserves the chance to have a bright future.
They are strongly committed to preventing youth homelessness and deliver highly effective mediation and drop-in advice services as well as homeless education in schools. Roundabout's groundbreaking Peer Education Project is delivered by trained volunteer Peer Educators who have experienced homelessness themselves.
They also do advocacy for estranged parents and carers to help them reconcile and improve relationships.
We now have dedicated workers who actively go out into the community, identify homeless young people who need intensive support and help them to access accommodation and develop their long term living skills.

StreetLink
For people aged 18+ only
What is StreetLink?
StreetLink is a platform that connects people rough sleeping in England and Wales to support provided by local authorities and charities. This includes anyone who is sleeping outside, preparing to bed down, or sleeping somewhere not designed for habitation, such as a car. To make these connections, the platform relies on alerts submitted by members of the public and people sleeping rough.
How does StreetLink work?
To make an alert, follow these 3 simple steps:
1. Locate
Pinpoint a specific location of where you have seen the person sleeping rough using our map feature and include a written description of the location.
2. Describe
Provide details on the time the person was sleeping rough at the location and any further information about their appearance that can help identify them.
3. Submit
Once submitted, your alert goes to the local authority or outreach service in the area. You will receive an update within 10 working days if you have requested it.
